RUSSELL CHATHAM LITHOGRAPHS BENEFIT PRAIRIE CONSERVATION

Russell Chatham is a renowned landscape artist from Livingston, Montana, whose unique style permeates all of his interests. Chatham began printmaking in 1981 and is today regarded as one of the world’s foremost lithographers.

In late summer of 2005, Chatham visited the American Prairie Reserve in Northeastern Montana and was inspired to create a four-piece portfolio of lithographs that captured the dramatic and subtle beauty of the prairie landscape.

The original lithographs were created using plates hand-drawn by Chatham. As many as fifty different colors may be used in one work, each one requiring a separate plate. The four editions each consist of 375 numbered pieces and twenty-five artists proofs. The aluminum plates on which the images were drawn have all been destroyed so the artwork cannot be replicated.

Russell Chatham and Geoffrey Sutton of Missoula donated forty sets of the lithographs to American Prairie Foundation to raise money for grassland conservation. Their gift provides important financial resources to APF and a unique opportunity to our supporters.

You can purchase "The Prairie Suite", consisting of the four unframed lithographs, for $2,100. Please scroll down to see images of these lithographs below.
