Our talented part-time graphic designer recently moved out of state. With her departure and a steadily growing volume of design work, we are seeking a full-time experienced designer. Our work is highly collaborative and fast-paced. As such, this position is not open for remote work. The ideal candidate is passionate about being a core part of our team working in our Bozeman office.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: American Prairie Reserve (APR), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation generating funds to build and manage deeded private land and leased public land which comprise our growing project area in Northeastern Montana. APR runs programmatic and operational functions in our project area with administrative and development functions based in Bozeman, Montana. Our mission is to create the largest nature reserve in the continental United States, a refuge for people and wildlife preserved forever as part of America’s heritage.

JOB PURPOSE: The Graphic Designer will work with the Development/Marketing team to conceptualize and produce a wide range of print and electronic materials in support of the organization’s fundraising, outreach, education, and operational needs. In coordination with the Marketing & Content Manager, the Designer also helps oversee production work flow, vendor relationships and file management.



  • Produce a wide range of print materials, including, but not limited to, brochures, newsletters, fundraising mailers, reports, invitations, and advertisements.
  • Manage printer and vendor coordination, file set-up, ordering and proofs.
  • Help ensure graphic and APR brand standards, including staying current on Adobe CC updates and tools for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Update and maintain APR design files, and work with the Marketing & Content Manager to distribute, or create access to, completed projects through digital libraries or similar.


  • Develop electronic collateral for bulk email campaigns, presentations, websites and social media.
  • Oversee and maintain an extensive photo database ensuring effective organization and and use of visual assets.
  • Help source and oversee production of materials for business development and promotion.
  • Support donor cultivation efforts such as photo books, custom pitches and appeals.

  • Enthusiasm for APR’s mission, goals and culture and positive representation of APR.
  • Possess a proactive and motivated work ethic; be confident and adaptable with sound judgment.
  • Possess a superior level of organizational, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects from concept to completion; adept at prioritization, clarifying project objectives, managing deadlines, communicating project status, and effectively coordinating work flow.
  • Ability to visually interpret, and consistently design in accordance with, APR’s style and brand.
  • Ability to collaborate with vendors, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Ability to visually communicate complicated concepts using graphics, diagrams and other visuals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field and 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design; OR 7+ years professional experience in graphic design, OR any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Extensive experience using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat (CS) as well as MS Office for design and layout, printing, and photo manipulation.
  • Knowledge of website tools such as Squarespace and Drupal preferred.
  • Experience with Wordpress and email marketing platforms (Vertical Response) preferred.
  • Ability to work with a photo management system such as iPhoto, Smugmug, Lightroom or similar.
  • Ability to travel periodically.
